Physical Description |
Alaric is good-looking with an athletic build, hazel eyes, and sandy brown hair. He has a boyish smile, and eyes that are often haunted byt the things he's seen and the secrets he's keeping. He carries herself with the physical ease of someone comfortable in his own skin, and perpetually looks like he's coming off a three day bender in need of a haircut a shave and an iron. |
Background |
Alaric was born and raised in Boston, most of his family is unknown aside from the fact that he has a long dead grandfather who he was named after and was once married. He studied history at Duke University where he met and fell in love with Isobel, a paranormal psychology student from Virginia. They married young and aside from the fact that she was often consumed by her research he thought they had a good marriage. He came home one night and witnessed a vampire biting (and apparently killing) Isobel after which both disappeared. With no leads, and no way to explain what he saw, Isobel was classified as missing presumed dead. He comes to Mystic Falls two years later following her research having learned about the more supernatural aspects of the world around them and in search of information on Isobel's death. What he finds is the vampire who killed the woman he loved, Damon Salvatore, but more than that he learns that Isobel had sought Damon out and begged to be turned. He becomes reluctantly involved in the plot to rescue Stefan from the tomb vampires, and comes face to face with Isobel before being compelled by her to move on. He begins a relationship with Jenna Sommers that quickly becomes strained because he can't tell her the truth about what is happening in Mystic Falls, Isobel or the Salvatore brothers. |
Personality |
He has spent a great deal of time devoting himself to continuing Isobel's research and fashioning himself as a DIY vampire hunter. Despite trying to appear as a fearsome vampire killer, he's really not a violent person, and can't stand to see innocents hurt. He's easy going, pragmatic and out for the greater good. He's one of the few people who genuinely seems to connect with Damon Salvatore and considers himself the vampires friend - even if the feeling isn't mutual. |
